Optimizations & Fixes

  1. Fixed the right-hand "white glove" phenomenon that occurred during initial connection in firmware v0.0.8.

  2. Enhanced signal strength and stability:

    1. Increased wireless connection range.

    2. Improved success rate of wireless channel switching.

    3. Fixed issues where frequent haptic feedback caused FPS drops and in-game stuttering.

  3. Adjusted glove indicator lights:

    1. Press briefly (1s) to power on.

    2. Both lights flashing blue simultaneously indicates the glove is updating firmware.

    3. Green breathing light indicates the glove is charging.

Important Notes

  1. Before updating the firmware, ensure the Udcap Driver software is updated to the latest version (v0.1.7.0).

  2. If your current firmware version is v0.0.8, the glove firmware supports wireless updates. For wireless updates, ensure the glove’s status indicator is green (can be paired and connected) before initiating the update. Wired updates are also supported. For firmware versions below v0.0.8, use a wired connection for this update.

  3. The wireless receiver will restart automatically; please wait. However, after a wired update of the gloves, briefly press the power button for 1 second to power them on. If updated wirelessly, manually powering on the gloves for the first time requires pressing and holding the power button for 10 seconds to activate, then pressing it again for 1 second to turn them on.

  4. If using software v0.1.4.0 or later and firmware (wireless receiver/glove) v0.0.6 or later, and the glove disconnects, use the Pairing function to reconnect.

  5. If experiencing low FPS, frequent stuttering, or the "white glove" phenomenon, it may indicate significant channel interference. Try switching wireless channels.

UDCAP VR Gloves – Software Update v0.1.7.0

We are excited to announce the release of UDCAP VR Gloves software v0.1.7.0, bringing significant optimizations, new features, and important bug fixes to enhance your VR experience.

  1. Hand Settings (Beta) Page Update

  • Merged Joint Node 2 and Joint Node 3 for simpler parameter adjustment.

  • Adjusted adjustable parameters to Min Output Value, Max Output Value, and Balance for more intuitive tuning. For detailed parameter references, please refer to the 【Hand Setting (Beta) Detailed Explanation】 chapter of the “UDCAP VR Gloves User Manual” .

  1. New Features

  • Added one-click SteamVR connection on the main page: For All-in-One VR headset users (e.g., Quest, PICO), after streaming to a PC, click here to connect to SteamVR with one click. This optimizes the previous manual process of starting UDCAP_overlay.exe.

  • Note: PICO users must ensure that PICO Connect, Steam, SteamVR, and the UDCAP Software all run with the same privilege level. For details, see the 【PICO Setup】 chapter of the “UDCAP VR Gloves User Manual”.

  • Added auto-start option in General Settings: Choose whether to launch Udcap Driver software automatically when SteamVR starts. Changes take effect the next time SteamVR is launched.

    • After updating, auto-start is disabled by default. If you want Udcap Driver to launch with SteamVR, enable it in 【General -> Auto-Start】.

  1. Optimizations & Fixes

  • Changed the spatial positioning parameter application logic. Parameters now only take effect after clicking 【Save】.

  • Fixed language localization issues.

  • Optimized the UI of the joystick calibration page.

  • Removed the default firmware update pop-up prompt within the software.

  • Optimized hand animations in VRChat.

  • Optimized haptic feedback:

    • Increased vibration intensity in some scenarios.

    • Fixed an issue where vibration would trigger continuously in certain games.

    • Fixed an issue where only one hand would vibrate in certain games.

    • Fixed an issue where only one hand would vibrate when both hands triggered feedback simultaneously.

Important Notes:

  • Haptic issues may be related to joystick installation and software launch privileges. For details, please see the 【Haptic Feedback: Issues & Solutions】 section of the “UDCAP VR Gloves User Manual” .

  • The “UDCAP VR Gloves User Manual” has been updated accordingly. It is recommended to refer to the 【Hand Setting (Beta) Detailed Explanation】 chapter for comprehensive instructions.

  • Known Issue: The current stable version of SteamVR (v2.12) may conflict with certain drivers, causing SteamVR to crash. This issue is fixed in SteamVR beta version v2.12.14. Our tests indicate no compatibility issues between Udcap Driver software and SteamVR v2.12.14. If you encounter this issue on the latest v2.12.14, try the following:

    • Solution ① Revert SteamVR to version 2.11 (Steam -> Library -> Right-click SteamVR -> Properties -> Betas -> Select previous in the dropdown menu).

    • Solution ② Enable drivers one by one to identify the problematic one, and keep unused drivers disabled. (This is the solution provided in the official SteamVR changelog).

Software Installation

Open the Udcap Driver software package and follow the installation steps.

After the software installation is complete, the installation option for the USB signal receiver will automatically pop up:

  • If you are using the UDCAP driver for the first time, installation is required.

  • If it has already been installed, simply exit by clicking the top-right corner. Reinstalling will prompt a failure message, but it will not affect usage.

Udcap Driver v0.1.6.0 Update Log

1. Hand Tracking Optimization

  • Algorithm Update: Improved hand tracking algorithms.

  • New Feature: Added one-click [Export Calibration Data] button on the hand tracking page.

  • New Feature: Added display of Serial Number (SN) to facilitate device identification and management.

2. Feature Enhancements & Fixes

  • Button Logic Fix: Added feature to disable the index trigger when A+B buttons are pressed simultaneously, preventing accidental screenshots and allowing the SteamVR system menu to be triggered normally.

  • Hand Tremor Fix: Reduced issues with abnormal finger shaking or twitching during hand tracking.

  • Vibration Feedback Page: Added Help Center external link for quick access to online documentation.

3. Bug Fixes

  • Fixed occasional software crashes during overwrite installation.

  • Fixed issue where the main window would not reappear when minimized and then clicked from the menu bar.

  • Fixed issue where minimizing the main window would also minimize the Settings window unintentionally.

  • Fixed bug where the Minimize and Close buttons in the top-right corner of the software remained clickable during firmware download/install pop-ups.

4. Other Key Adjustments

Removal of Default Administrator Permission:

  • Note:

    • If UDCAP is installed on Drive C, it will still require administrator privileges by default.

    • If installed on a non-C drive, administrator privileges are no longer enforced.

Regarding Admin Privileges & Vibration Feedback:

  • The Vibration Feedback page now includes a link to the Help Center for troubleshooting.

  • To ensure the vibration feedback feature works properly, UDCAP and Steam must be launched with the same privilege level.

    • For example:

      • If UDCAP is installed on Drive C and is forced to run as administrator, then Steam must also be launched as administrator.

      • Conversely, if Steam is not launched with admin privileges, UDCAP should also run without them.

  • Important: If launching Steam/SteamVR through a third-party streaming tool, make sure the privilege levels match—UDCAP should follow the same level as those applications.

Additional Notes:

  • If your Udcap Driver software is not installed on Drive C, it will no longer default to launching with administrator privileges.

  • Overwrite installations do not support changing the installation path. If you wish to change it, please uninstall and reinstall the software.

  • The UDCAP VR Gloves User Manual has been updated. Please refer to the "Vibration Feedback Issues and Solutions" section for details.

  • Known Bug: After unplugging and replugging the right-hand signal receiver, it defaults to channel 0. To resolve this, manually reset the right-hand channel to 0. A permanent fix will be included in the next firmware update for the gloves/receivers.

1. New Features

  • F1 Quick Calibration: After the glove is successfully connected, press the F1 key to quickly initiate the calibration process.

  • New Sidebar in Settings Page: Improved UI layout for more efficient navigation.

  • Joystick Quick Disability Feature: When enabled in settings, pressing and holding the joystick for 5 seconds will disable joystick inputs. Repeat the same action to re-enable.

2. Feature Optimizations & Fixes

  • Glove Info Display Optimization on Home Page: Now shows battery level, signal strength, and FPS (Note: FPS ≥ 100 is considered normal).

  • Pairing UI Fix: Corrected UI prompts when the receiver enters pairing mode.

  • Short Press Power Button Calibration Optimization: Quickly tap the power button (within 1 second) to start fast calibration.

  • Wireless Update Stability Improvements: Wireless firmware update time has been shortened. ⚠️ Note: Updating from version 007 to 008 via wireless may still take around 6 minutes. Future upgrades after v008 will be significantly faster. It is recommended to use a wired connection for this update.

  • Improved Communication Strategy: Enhanced communication stability to reduce disconnection issues during use.

  • Shorter Power-On Time: Press and hold the power button for 2 seconds to power on (blue light flashing).

  • Adjusted Button Operation Logic:

    • Power On: Press and hold for 2 seconds

    • Pairing: While powered on (blue blinking or green solid light), press and hold for 3 seconds

    • Power Off: Press and hold for 5 seconds Note: Pressing the power button while the device is off will not enter pairing mode.

  • Language Compatibility Fix: Resolved an issue where firmware could not be detected on non-English Windows systems.

  • Firmware Display Bug Fix: After upgrading to version 008, the firmware info will display correctly without needing to restart the software or the glove. ⚠️ Note: This fix only takes effect from v008 onward. If upgrading from v007 to v008, the display bug still exists and a manual restart of UDCAP software is required.

  • Multiple Bugfixes: Fixed various issues that could cause lag or crashes, significantly improving software stability.

3. Other Improvements

  • Updated User Agreement & Privacy Policy: See Udcap Driver 0.1.5 > General > User Agreement / Privacy Policy in the software.

  • Updated UDCAP VR Glove User Manual: Please refer to the Software Introduction section for detailed instructions.

Important Notes

  • Firmware v007 or above is required for wireless updates. ⚠️ Wireless updating from v007 to v008 may take around 6 minutes. Future updates after v008 will be much faster. This upgrade is strongly recommended to be performed via wired connection.

  • Update notifications will appear as a pop-up banner at the top of the main menu. We strongly recommend all users to update promptly.

  • To prevent software/firmware mismatches, please ensure you follow the correct sequence when updating the software and all four firmware modules.

  • If the gloves disconnect after the update, make sure both gloves are on firmware version 008 and re-pair them.

  • The current glove firmware v0.0.6 still requires a wired connection for updates.

  • Update notifications will appear as a pop-up window at the top of the main menu. All users are strongly encouraged to complete the upgrade as soon as possible.

  • To avoid software and firmware version incompatibility, please follow the update sequence and complete both software and all four firmware updates.

  • After the update, the right-hand glove may experience disconnection. Please manually pair it again.
